The idea for the etShops platform was born during my studies at the Wrocław University of Applied Computer Science. As a credit assignment, we were tasked with designing and implementing a complete system with user roles.

Initially, the application was a simple online store, allowing you to configure individual elements of the site and manage products. However, our team decided not to stop there. In response to the needs created by the pandemic, we decided to continue developing the app to support local businesses in their migration to the web, in compliance with current sanitary requirements.

Transforming the store into a platform

The online store we developed for the study has been transformed into a comprehensive e-commerce platform. We developed key aspects of the application to meet business needs, including:

• Integrations with payment gateways
• Price comparison sites
• Integrations with wholesalers

Our experience gained from working for various companies allowed us to better understand the market and develop a list of the most frequently used features by users. As a result, we were able to make improvements that made etShops more user-friendly on a daily basis and better suited to the needs of micro-entrepreneurs.

Rapid development and new features

Over time, we noticed the huge potential of our solution and the rapid growth of new features. We decided to meet the challenges posed by real users of our platform. At the request of our first customers, we introduced:

• Integration with BaseLinker platform
• Ability to sell virtual products
• Securing forms with reCaptcha codes
